Biography

Born in Brooklyn, raised in Irvington, New Jersey, Reyshizz, birth name Reynald Benoit, has always been intrigued by music. He was introduced to Hip-hop by his older siblings and cousins at the age of six. He enjoyed how the music would bring his family together and make them happy. At the age of twelve, in 1996, he decided, he too would create music that would bring amusement to people's lives. Learning from his older cousins, who were also aspiring artists, he began to develop his rapping skills. This was all done in secret because his parents wanted him to focus on his school work. Reyshizz practiced writing rhymes as much as he could but it always took a back seat to his studies.

Throughout high school, college and grad school he continued to write, rap and get incrementally better with each verse. It wasn't until after he completed grad school did he decide to focus all of his energy on music. Creating several mixtapes and performing at many local clubs, Reyshizz cultivated himself to the rapper he has become today.

At 27, Reyshizz is ready to take on the world with lyrical talents. In his latest mixtape, InspiREYtion, he tells story of the artist's dream to be in the spotlight, walking the listener through the ups and downs of fame and fortune. In this semi-autobiographical hero's journey, Reyshizz imagines a scenario where an artist dreams and then achieves fame and fortune, only to reject it because of the baggage that comes along with it. He is aware of the high price to pay for success and InspiREYtion serves as a reminder to him not to lose his head no matter how much he achieves.

In all of his work, Reyshizz depicts an honest view of the world through his eyes, capturing the feelings of his generation. When you listen to Reyshizz, you'll get a sense of where's he from and the heights that he will achieve.
